Month by Month: April Tuscumbia AL

Hopefully you’re already doing your part with household recycling. Beyond putting things by the curb, though, have you recycled things to use on your layouts? That cover sheet on paper sets can easily be a background on its own. The rub-on wooden sticks can be embellishments. Package backing can make excellent chipboard for die cuts and mini album covers.

Month by Month: April

BE RESOURCEFUL. April has always been one of “those” months for me . . . one I don’t actually look forward to with its unpredictable weather and potentially dreary days. As spring struggles to make itself known, make this April work for you. Rainy days? Take pictures of puddle jumping! Short on a supply? Improvise!

This month’s layout from my book was actually my son’s idea. Rather than cooperating while I tried to take some backyard pictures, he decided to run away. It became a fabulous game, and I ended up with lots of laughter and a heap of blurry action photos. Once upon a time, I might have disregarded the photos as unusable and moved on, failing to capture the fun afternoon and my sons’ delight. Instead, I chose to use even blurry photos and document this joy. Don’t let imperfection stop you, either!

Here are three more ideas to consider this April:

1. Recycle. Shopping bags and tags can be excellent decoration. The list goes on . . .

2. Use that rain. Whether you have a green thumb or not, take advantage of the rain this month to plant something . . . a tree, a garden, a garden gnome. :) Take pictures while you’re at it!

3. Tell your story. Have something you’d love to scrapbook but no pictures at hand? Be resourceful and forego the photos. Yup, brave it out and let your words be the star.

Now, are you ready for this month’s challenge? For April, I challenge you to scrapbook blurry photos! Join in and you’ll have the opportunity to win a copy of my book, Month by Month Scrapbooking ! Find out more at my Month by Month Scrapbooking group .
