Month by Month: September Parsippany NJ

Even if you don’t have kids in school and aren’t headed there yourself, “back-to-schoolness” is inescapable this month. Rather than try to steer clear, embrace it and welcome the opportunity to focus on learning. Even if you don’t homeschool your kids, think about what you want your child to learn.

Month by Month: September

BE SMART. Even if you don’t have kids in school and aren’t headed there yourself, “back-to-schoolness” is inescapable this month. Rather than try to steer clear, embrace it and welcome the opportunity to focus on learning.

One of the “September” layouts from my Month-by-Month Scrapbooking book showcases a mission statement that my husband and I came up with when we first decided to homeschool. We set out the reasons for our decision and what we hoped to accomplish. Yes, we’re a bit nerdy like that, but the act of setting it all out did help. Even if you don’t homeschool your kids, think about what you want your child to learn. You could even list what ∗you∗ want to learn and do with your life.

Here are three more ideas to consider this September:

1. Teach someone something. In this day of technology and blogs aplenty, why not share some of your knowledge with a little tutorial this month? Volunteering at a local school or library is sure to be appreciated, too!

2. Consider lessons learned. What lessons in life have you learned? If you were making a manual for a loved one or future generations, what would it say?

3. Visit your local library. I don’t know about you, but my local library often has great class offerings for both kids and adults. Take advantage of a class this month or sign up to take a class elsewhere. Keep learning!

Take a Challenge and Enter to Win a Prize

Now for challenge time. For September, I challenge you to write your own mission statement. It can be for something big (like life in general) or something simple (like how you’d like your week to go). Join in the fun, and you’ll have the opportunity to win a copy of my book, Month-by-Month Scrapbooking ! Find out more at my Month-by-Month Scrapbooking group .
