Scrapbook Page Layout Sketches

A Simple, Versatile Sketch

For several years now, I've simplified part of this great hobby by creating seasonal layouts: I create two-page spreads that summarize the highlights of what my family did in any particular season. In the case of the layout below, I summarized our fall from last year using this month's sketch.

This sketch is literally full of photos, leaving very little room for creativity or pressure to spend hours decorating your layout. This just may be exactly what you need right now. Or if you want to use the sketch but you're feeling the creativity juices flow, feel free to swap out some of those picture spots for more decorative elements.

Our Fall by Becky Higgins. Supplies Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper; Patterned paper: Scenic Route (green) and Dream Street Papers (yellow); Letter stickers: American Crafts; Brads: Making Memories; Corner-rounder punch and pen: EK Success; Adhesive: Easy-Stick Double Stick Adhesive, Duck Products, Henkel Consumer Adhesive.

Becky's note: To jazz up this layout a bit, I grabbed some paper scraps and a pair of scissors and did a little freestyle scallop cutting. I added some brads, and the whole layout came to life with a touch of whimsy.
